Sprint's Network & The Super Bowl: Is Your Carrier an Eli or a Tom?
Since the New England Patriots and the New York Giants won themselves a golden ticket to Super Bowl XLII, the quarterbacks of these teams have been analyzed for their playing styles, storied careers, fashion sense and which is the most likely QILF among married women.
Visitors to Indianapolis for Super Bowl XLVI have their smart phones and tablets armed and ready to Tweet, Flickr, +1, Instagram, YouTube and Like as many interesting people, photos and anecdotes per minute as their wireless network will allow.
*Cough* Make sure to check your carrier's unlimited data plan before you start.
With that said, here is Sprint's wireless network playbook for the expected 150,000-plus visitors to Indy - aka NapTown, aka Circle City - for today's big game:
- Activated two COWs (Cells on Wheels) outside Lucas Oil Stadium;
- Activated two COWs to Super Bowl Village;
- Activated one COW at the University of Indianapolis NFC practice facility;
- Added capacity to 21 CDMA sites and seven iDEN sites around downtown and surrounding area hotels, including a major capacity upgrade inside the stadium.
- Additionally, Sprint has implemented 52 network capacity upgrades throughout the Indianapolis market in the past 90 days, with 66 additional enhancements. The upgrades encompass all aspects of a customer's wireless experience, including voice, data and in-building solutions.
Compare this to what your carrier is doing - if you're so bold as to not be a Sprint customer - and see how its wireless offense and defense measures up.
If I had to say which QB best represents Sprint's network, I would have to pick the best that both Eli and Tom have to offer:
- Eli's intelligence
- Tom's proven championship performance
- Eli's clutch plays
- Tom's reflective history and seasoned success
- And of course, Eli's defensive line
Because in the end, defense wins games... and championships. Enjoy today's game, Sprint customers!
